The City is seeking a well-rounded and seasoned candidate to serve as the next Police Chief. This is an exciting opportunity for a forward facing, team oriented, and creative candidate to work amongst many generations alongside a diverse staff and community. The incoming Police Chief must have the ability to lead and develop a strong team, leading by example. Candidates with proven leadership experience, excellent interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to service are desired. The successful candidate must interface well with other agencies and associations and should have the ability to navigate and work with unions. An individual who treats everyone fairly and respectfully, and who understands the leadership skills needed for the Chief role is desired.
Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Police Science, Public or Business Administration, or a related field, and eight (8) years of increasingly responsible experience in all major facets of municipal police work including management and supervision.
The monthly salary for the Police Chief is $18,026.95 to $21,992.89. Placement within this range is dependent on experience and qualifications. The City also offers an excellent benefits package.
