The Anaheim Police Department is seeking an innovative law enforcement professional to serve as the Department’s Deputy Chief of Police. The ideal candidate understands the importance of supporting leadership in the organization to achieve common goals and must be approachable with the ability to listen to others. The incoming Deputy Chief should have the ability to multitask effectively, accomplishing tasks in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will also have a strong community policing and problem-solving background, experience in strategic and succession planning, and a track record of working well with outside agencies. Candidates must possess ten (10) years of increasingly responsible law enforcement experience (as a sworn officer with powers of arrest), including three (3) years of senior level management responsibility in a comprehensive law enforcement agency, supplemented by a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in criminal justice, police science, business administration, public administration, or a related field. The Deputy Chief of Police shall be a sworn officer with powers of arrest. Possession of a master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field and completion of POST Command College, Senior Management Institute for Police, California Police Chiefs Executive Leadership Institute, FBI National Academy and/or other comparable law enforcement executive training is highly desirable.

The annual salary range for the Deputy Chief of Police is $184,231, - $276,347; placement within this range is dependent on qualifications and experience.
