Assistant Chief Easton McDonald began his career in 1997 with the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center in Bergen County, NJ. In 1999, he transferred to the Hudson County Department of Corrections in New Jersey. In May of 1999, he joined the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office. From 2001 to 2023, he served with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, where he served in various assignments he worked in patrol, community policing, school resource officer, academy Instructor, sergeant in patrol, and sergeant of Youth Services Section, and was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant, overseeing 42 officers in the Youth Services Section. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant, overseeing Emergency management during the pandemic. He was promoted to Captain and retired as a Major overseeing The Operational Support division.
He currently holds the position of Assistant Chief of Police in Alexandria, Virginia, where he oversees the Field Operations Bureau. Assistant Chief McDonald has a master’s degree from the University of New Haven and a Bachelor of Arts from Ramapo College of New Jersey. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), and the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police (VACP). He has graduated from the Southern Police Institute (SPI) Administrative Officers Course #143. He also holds a Virginia Sheriffs Institute Certification. He is a Certified Law Enforcement Command Executive from the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police. Additionally, he is a Life Member of the National Association of Black Law Enforcement Executives, Which he joined in 2006, and a Life member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.
