Deputy Chief Kevin Granville retired from law enforcement in 2023 with the Broward Sheriff’s Office. After completing 31 years of service, he retired as a Regional Major. Prior to this role, he was assigned as the Community Services Major and was responsible for the development and implementation of community programs and projects throughout Broward County. While in this role, he developed a summer youth mentoring program titled Leading, Educating, and Developing Camp (L.E.A.D.). He established the Sheriff’s Cup Golf Tournament to support local charities, the Driveway Initiative, and the BSO Open House to recruit for law enforcement, fire, and corrections. Throughout his career, he has served in road patrol, street narcotics, the school resource unit, the motor unit, and as a field training coordinator.
Deputy Chief Granville graduated from Miami Northwestern Senior High School, and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Bethune Cookman University and is also a graduate of the University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers Course, Class 116. He believes in community service and has served the community in various ways. Deputy Chief Granville is a Kiwanian, a Rotarian, has served on Turner Tech High School’s Public Service Academy Board, and is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He has been honored by Legacy Magazine as one of the top 50 Most Powerful Blacks in Business and has been a member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) since 2008. Deputy Chief Granville served as South Florida Chapter President (2014-2017), Region 3 Vice-President (2017-2019), National Sergeant at Arms (2019-2022), and 2025 National Conference Chairperson. Deputy Chief Granville was recently appointed as the Deputy Chief of Police for the Lauderhill Police Department.
Kevin was born, raised, and still resides in Miami and is the proud father of three beautiful children. He is the youngest of three children and has two nieces. He enjoys traveling, golfing, and serving the community and is often heard quoting Tavis Smiley, “you can’t serve the people, unless you love the people”, something that he holds true to his heart. He was once asked how he would like to be remembered. He replied, “as someone who had a passion for serving the community”.
