Assistant Chief (Multiple Positions) The City of Seattle seeks multiple dynamic police executives to assist and support the Chief of Police in the overall management and administration of the Seattle Police Department (SPD). The Assistant Chiefs have management responsibility for the services, activities, and day-to-day operations of an assigned Bureau: Patrol Operations, Criminal Investigations, Metropolitan, Special Operations, or Collaborative Policing. The Assistant Chiefs report to the Chief of Police, Deputy Chief, and Chief Operating Officer. As part of the Department’s Command Staff, these positions will play a central role in advancing the Department’s mission of reducing crime through constitutional policing. The Assistant Chiefs coordinate activities across the Bureaus, City Departments, and outside agencies. They advise and assist subordinates in solving highly complex policing issues and provide executive support to the Chief of Police. These positions require certification, or the ability to obtain certification, as a police officer as required by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission: https://cjtc.wa.gov/. The salary for these at-will positions is $259,296 and is augmented by an excellent benefits package that includes relocation assistance. These positions are not covered under the Civil Service or the Public Safety Civil Service systems.
