This is an exceptional opportunity to be a Police Chief in an advanced organization that is rebuilding itself and provides the chance to focus on quality-of-life issues. Located in the heart of California’s Central Valley, the City of Turlock (pop. 73,631) is the second largest city in Stanislaus County, but still maintains a small-town atmosphere and friendly attitude with the conveniences and opportunities of a larger city.
The City is seeking a Chief dedicated to community policing, strategic and succession planning, and the professional development of staff. The Police Chief serves as an active and contributing member of the City’s Executive Leadership Team and will inherit diverse, extremely talented, and committed employees eager to assist the Police Chief in making Turlock the ideal place to live and do business again.
Qualifications include five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional command level management experience with a public law enforcement agency, with at least three (3) of those years performing administrative and supervisory oversight at Lieutenant level or higher, or any experience that would have provided the opportunity to develop the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
