The City of Montebello is seeking a forward-thinking, experienced law enforcement professional with strong leadership presence and excellent interpersonal skills to serve as its Chief of Police. The Montebello Police Department is focused on being a modern and effective police department and is committed to the principle of continuous improvement. The Department is seeking a Police Chief that will be a strategic and visionary thinker and bring forward solutions to enhance efficiency within the Department. The ideal candidate will foster a team environment and have excellent communication skills. Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. The typical candidate will have graduated from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major coursework in public or business administration, law enforcement administration, police science, or a closely related field and will possess, at a minimum, ten (10) years of progressively responsible and varied professional experience in law enforcement, with at least four (4) years at the level of Lieutenant/2nd level supervisor. The annual salary range for the Police Chief position is $182,268-$232,656 (salary is currently under review and may be increased); placement within this range is dependent upon qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
