Senior Associate Vice President and Deputy, Global Campus Safety-New York University (NY)


The Senior Associate Vice President (SAVP), Global Campus Safety, will report directly to the Vice President, Global Campus Safety (VP) and will identify points of intersection that will lead to greater efficiency, improved processes, reduced duplication, increased customer satisfaction, and enhanced service management and quality across Campus Safety teams and service areas globally. The SAVP will also be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, exceptional managerial and team performance, as well as overall operational efficiency of Campus Safety (CS) and advising the VP on all matters of operational accountability, strategic planning and operations, stewardship of CS resources and will liaise with numerous central University offices in developing long and short term plans in furtherance of the units goals and mission. The SAVP will also develop near and long-term operational strategy across all areas of CS while promoting a collaborative work environment. The SAVP will provide leadership and direction for multi-functional and diverse teams across the Department with direct oversight of areas such as Transportation (university-wide fleet management), Professional Standards (Accreditation, Training, Internal Affairs, Records and Compliance), Strategic Initiatives (Strategic Planning, Communications, Research and Planning, Process Improvement, Performance Management) Finance and Administration (Business and Workplace Services); as well as community engagement initiatives assigned by the VP, globally. The SAVP serves as a key representative of the VP at selected internal and external meetings with faculty, staff, students, vendors, global partners, and university leadership and administrators among other stakeholders to ensure communication, collaboration and partnership on all Campus Safety services.


Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred

Preferred Education:
Master’s Degree

Required Experience:
10+ years progressively responsible experience advising/working with/supporting/consulting to executive/senior leaders in assessing, improving and leading their organizations. Proven ability to handle multiple priorities under deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail. Financial and budgetary management, vendor management / contract negotiation. Ability to work effectively and constructively across cultures and industries. Experience leading / managing a diverse and inclusive 24x7x365 global organization and experience with project management and service management methodologies. Strong background in executing strategic and operational initiatives, developing analytical models and presenting information to C-suite /senior leaders.

Preferred Experience:
Experience working across a large, global, client-focused organization and/or in academic administration.

Demonstrates strong ethical values, committed to the highest professional standards of conduct. Ability to develop, implement and interpret policies and procedures. Prior experience with operational and staff supervision. Excellent communication, interpersonal, networking, leadership, project management, change management, risk management, organizational development, and multitasking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also required, along with strong research, writing, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate sensitive information verbally and in writing to individuals at all levels. The incumbent must be able to appropriately respond to highly sensitive and confidential situations in person, (via telephone or via e- mail) on behalf of the VP. The successful candidate will be able to work in a team environment and to collaborate with others on all initiatives and deadline-driven assignments. Strong ability to translate priorities into field decisions. S/he will also be highly skilled and proficient in use of technology.
