This position is responsible for the overall management of the Division’s Support Services Function to include the Law Enforcement Budget, Law Enforcement Records, Emergency Services, Fleet Management, and Communications.

Duties include management of the law enforcement division budget, procurement, and inventory processes.

Serves as a member of the Agency’s budget team; manage and maintain information technology operations and systems for the agency’s communication center in support of agency services pertaining to wildlife, fish, and boating related law enforcement services

Ensure public and employee safety is addressed and documented in the provision of these services.

Serves as User Agency Requirements Committee (UARC) member to represent the agency on matters relating to (STARS) Statewide Agencies Radio System management; and ensure law enforcement records are procured, maintained, and managed in accordance with the Code of Virginia.

An extensive and comprehensive knowledge of agency organizational functions; law enforcement principles and practices, of policy development and implementation techniques; of planning processes; of leadership and management principles and practices; of public relations and media communications; and a working knowledge of wildlife management principles and practices.

Demonstrated ability to plan and organize a complex array of law enforcement function.

Ability to define and develop solutions to large-scale division issues of unusual complexity.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a diverse workforce.

Ability to supervise, encourage and evaluate subordinates and others and to lead by example.

Ability to make and support difficult and/or unpopular decisions.

Ability to both demonstrate and elicit accountability; to establish and maintain effective working relationships; to effectively address multiple assignments with critical deadlines.

Ability to develop and work within program goals, objectives, priorities and budgets.

Considerable knowledge of division administrative programs and processes to include, budget development and execution.

Ability and knowledge to prepare a comprehensive law enforcement budget.

Considerable knowledge of data management and emergency response practices, systems, and related equipment .

Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, and implement computer-aided dispatch, records management, public communications, and other compliance related programs.

Current law enforcement certification from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).

Demonstrated experience in law enforcement and progressively responsible supervisory/management experience.

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

Valid Driver’s License

Additional related education may substitute for some of the required experience.
