Police Chief-City of Lathrop (CA)

City of Lathrop, California

Police Chief
Annual salary range: $188,782 to $229,465
The city offers an attractive benefits package.
Application deadline: Friday, June 18, 2021.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an active practitioner of community-oriented policing and a hands-on public safety professional to play a major role in the formation of a new municipal Police Department.

With Lathrop’s economy and population continuing to grow, it makes economic sense to move forward with the City’s own Police Department which equates to more officers, lower budget, personalized services, and predictable costs. The City’s tax base and development activity are solid indicators that a municipal Police Department will be able to provide the community the high level of service that they have come to expect from City Hall.

Under administrative direction of the City Manager, the Police Chief is responsible for directing, planning, and managing the provision of law enforcement; providing leadership and oversight for all functions and activities of the Police Department, including field operations, criminal investigations, communications, and management services; coordinating assigned activities with other City departments, officials, outside agencies, and the public; fostering cooperative working relationships among City departments and with intergovernmental and regulatory agencies and various public and private groups; and performing other related work as required.
