Real Time Crime Center Manager-Albuquerque Police Department (NM)

Position Summary

Plan, direct, manage, and oversee the activities and operations of first line supervisors in the Albuquerque Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center Crime Analysis section. Conduct/coordinate and oversee complex research and strategic crime analysis used to identify, evaluate patterns, trends, using probability studies and complex statistical analysis. Develop and test hypotheses, develop victim and suspect profiles and forecast criminal activity. Work also includes managing and directing staff in operating and interpreting multiple interactive software systems regarding emergency and criminal calls for service. Responsible for the administration of databases related to the Real Time Crime Center and to coordinate training opportunities with other divisions and outside agencies.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; and

Seven (7) years of sworn law enforcement experience in any combination of the following fields:

Law enforcement intelligence

Real Time Crime Centers

Decision Support Centers

Fusion Centers; and

To include four (4) years of supervisory experience.

Advanced education preferred.


Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Preferred Knowledge

Operational characteristics, services and activities of a Real Time Crime Center/Fusion center.

Supervisor/management experience in stressful situations

Manage and participate in the development, administration, and implementation of division goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for each assigned service area for current and new systems integrated into the division

Plan, coordinate, oversee, and review the work plan for assigned services and first line supervisors; assign work activities and projects; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures

Help select, supervise, train and evaluate staff

Ability to learn new systems, software, and assigned job tasks

Provides information and analysis on police resources. May represent the agency in presenting criminal intelligence information to agencies, organizations, local municipalities, and other state and federal government entities

Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of information systems

Identifies and recommends methods to develop agency tactics, strategies, and long-range plans for crime control and prevention

Development of operational plans for large scale events that require the involvement of Real Time Crime Center personnel and assistance for successful execution of operation

Assess intelligence requests and needs to recommend, plan, and prioritize data collection plans, potential targets, or case strategies

Ability to prepare periodic analysis reports relative to crime developments, either as they are currently occurring or as they are estimated to occur in the future

Understanding of AXIS video network and proprietary video camera software for maintenance and upgrading of network to provide assistance in video analytics

Forecast and interpret future crime statistics utilizing quantitative and qualitative methodology

Compile information to be used in bulletins, articles, and publications for the benefit of the law enforcement community. Compose and/or complete memoranda/correspondence/reports summarizing documentation pertaining to identified subjects

Principles and practices of law enforcement procedures and best practices

Ability to make sound reasonable decisions in the event of an emergency and organize assets, resources and personnel for efficient outcomes by providing pertinent information for improved situational awareness
