Upcoming Southern California – Region VI Events

Hello SCC NOBLE Family,

First thanks to all who participated in the 2nd Hoops and Options College and Resource Fair at FAME LA.  Please check our NOBLE website at sccnoble.org for photos. New NOBLE members were gained.  Our Collegiate Chapter was also present and signed up a few students who were bringing High School student to the event.  Thanks to all of the agencies including the black firefighters/Senterions who also showed up and participated.

Please mark your calendars and plan to attend the below event we discussed in our past meetings.  I first saw Dr. Marks in Washington D.C. during one of the 21 Century policing feedback sessions and he was outstanding!  He has recently completed this training for the entire LAPD Sworn on Implicit Bias and some of us thought it would be great for members of the Community to receive training as well.  I hope that many of you will be able to attend this Thursday, October 19th, 2017, at FAME beginning at 1800 hours.    Please advise if you will attend admission is FREE!

In addition, mark your calendars for Monday, November 13, 2017, when our Collegiate Chapter at CSUDH will host their very first event- Human Trafficking training with our very own retired LAPD Lieutenant Andre Dawson.  This will take place at Cal State Dominguez Hills, 5PM-6PM Networking Opportunities and training 6-7PM with Q&A to follow.  This event is Co- Hosted with the CJA Honor Society.  We should have flyers by next week.  More info TBA.

FYI, we are participating in the food, coat and toy giveaway December 23, 2017, at FAME. Start asking family and friends for both men, women, boys and girls new or slightly worn CLEAN coats, scarves, hats and gloves for the Winter months for those in need.  Also, those of you who were at our last meeting and supposed to provide the Thanksgiving info please provide ASAP so we will know if our Thanksgiving project will be the same or different this year.

I just thank you all for all of the outreach and work you are doing and there is much more to do.  Start thinking about our activities for 2018.  We all know our Achievers Dinner is March 24, 2018.  Go ahead and save the date for Collaboration for success- What is Needed” Our next meeting is Saturday, December 9th at which time election results will be given.

Keep watching your email as nominations for VP, Parliamentarian/Chaplin and Secretary will be sent.  Remember you must be financial both with your NOBLE National as we as you SCC NOBLE dues in order to run and become an officer.

We welcome our new SCC NOBLE members: John Lindsay- LACSD- VP BPOA and Whitney McCray-CIA
