First of all let me say “Thank You”, we had a very successful Dancing with Cops Event (CLICK HERE). The attendance was overwhelming especially with the rain and the cold. I have to personally thank those that came, those that wanted to come and those that made a donation to the cause. We could not have been successful without your commitment to our only fundraiser. I was truly honored as the Executive Board presented me with a Leadership Award (CLICK HERE). I tell you guys all the time that I am only successful due to the membership and I really appreciate each and every one of you. Rod Looney was presented with the North Florida Chapter Member of the Year for his hard work and dedication. This will be an annual award presented at the Dancing with Cops Event in December. Special thanks goes to Britney Gibbs for the decorations and the main coordination of the event.
On Saturday we delivered blankets to two Nursing Homes in Madison County. We had over 130 blankets and it was a very emotional event. Thanks for your donations. We had several members attend and I think this was the largest turnout we have had for the Blankets for the Elderly Event the past four years we have been doing this.
Next week (Monday and Tuesday) we will be preparing/delivering the toys and gifts for Christmas. I have attached a list (CLICK HERE) of two single parents and their children that are in need of Christmas items. We have plenty of toys so we do not need any more toys. If you would like to participate in the delivery of the gifts, send me an email and we will pick a time convenient for everyone.
We have a single mom with two girls ages 5 and 10 that we have selected as well for Christmas and today I was notified of a single mom who just moved here from Puerto Rico. She has a 3 year son and a 9 year old daughter. They are sleeping on air mattresses and have no furniture and very little clothes. I have the sizes of the children and the mom if you want to contribute. We are probably going to get gift cards for the adults and present the children with the toys. If you would like to donate to these families, please let me know ASAP.
We will also be providing 30 more blankets to the second nursing home as we only had enough blankets for half of the facility.
We will resume our Monthly Meeting in January.
Again thanks for all your support this year and I look forward to what the New Year has in store for our growing Chapter. Your Executive Board wishes you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!!
